December Patron Review

“Through the resource sharing libraries and Michigan Electronic Library facilities of the library I have been studying cinema history, going back to the silent movies. Certain directors give great works of art in different eras. William Wellman and Archie Mayo made many great movies in the ‘pre code’ era between 1929-1935. Provocative adult themes done with intelligence, humor, and with so many major stars who were all so young.  Director Michael Curtiz you could say made ‘everything’ throughout the 30’s, 40’s, and into the 50’s. Alfred Hitchcock’s earlier movies made in England loved to shock you. Director John Ford is well known, but he made a number of comedies with the great Will Rogers. In the 60’s and early 70’s director Bob Rafelson made movies when censorship was abandoned, and you’ll see a lot of Jack Nicholson, Ann-Margret, and Ellen Burnstyn in their youth.  After “Easy Rider” was made in 1969 for $300,000 and made $100,000,000 and there was a cinema revolution by bold young artists. These items are all free from your library!”

**Patron Reviews are a new program at the Crawford County Library. This is a great chance for our patrons to get involved and give their own personal reviews on authors, books, series, movies and TV series! We will show case your review to the rest of the community for the month you are picked. If you are interested in being in our monthly patron reviews, please stop by either one of our branches and talk to a staff member for more information! **
